The vast majority of HRH associates are involved in direct patient care or ensuring the smooth operation of our hospitals and offices. However, two associates work primarily outside the walls, off campus. Meet Beth Ann Holmes and Cathryn Ensley, the dynamic duo of Community Relations.
As the department name suggests, Beth Ann and Cathryn spend their days building relationships in the cities and towns HRH serves, with Cathryn primarily focused on Putnam County. They do this by representing HRH at events and meetings, evaluating sponsorships, brainstorming with other departments to find the right fit for community outreach, connecting associates with volunteer opportunities and volunteering themselves whenever possible.
“There are a lot of things I love about my job, but if I had to pick one, it would be the chance to be face-to-face, out and about, representing Hendricks and spreading our mission of healthier hometowns,” said Beth Ann. “I really love meeting and connecting with new people, learning about their goals and how we can work together. I firmly believe that we all want our community to thrive, and partnering up just makes sense.”
Cathryn echoed that sentiment: “I’ve always looked at my community like a larger family. All the things I, along with my husband, parents and children, value most are here, and we want to do everything we can to give back and ensure that remains true for generations to come. We believe in philanthropy and rolling up our sleeves, and my job at Hendricks is an extension of that.”
You’ll rarely find Beth Ann and Cathryn in the office, at a desk and especially not at the same time! They often pack dozens of events and meetings into a single week, racking up the miles from Brownsburg to Greencastle, Plainfield to Lizton/Bainbridge and everywhere in between. But they’re never too busy to hear your community engagement and involvement ideas. Email both at CommunityRelations@hendricks.org.
Talking about Beth Ann and Cathryn and community relations in general, President & CEO Dr. Michelle Fenoughty said, “Beth Ann and Cathryn’s personal touch and genuine interest in the community make their efforts truly impactful. And that’s true of all our associates. When our values drive how we treat our patients and one another, we end up with the special place we all know as Hendricks Regional Health.”
Both women enjoy family time, floating and volunteering when not building goodwill for HRH. Though, here’s a surprise. “I’m a big fan of WWE,” said Beth Ann. “I was once given third-row seats to WWE Smackdown. It was one of the most exciting things I have ever watched, and I was hooked after a few minutes of watching the craziness of it all.”
